Hyundai Verna Fluidic CX variant to up the ante against new City
Honda introduced the new City with diesel engine option, thereby threatening sales of segment leader, Hyundai Verna. Now, Hyundai is gearing up to beat competition and launch a new Verna variant, in the form of CX, which should make its presence felt in the days ahead.
The new Hyundai Verna CX is to be offered with the same 1.4 CRDi diesel engine and will be positioned between Hyundai Verna EX and SX models. The diesel engine is capable of churning out a maximum power output of 89 PS and 220 Nm torque, compared to Honda City’s 100 PS and 200 Nm. This engine delivers a mileage of 23.5 kmpl while City delivers 26 kmpl.
Besides updating the Verna CX, Hyundai has also given the entire Verna range an update back in Nov 2013, with top end SX(o) model being fitted with new 16” diamond cut alloy wheels, projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights and illuminated switches inside the cabin. These updates will allow the Hyundai Verna to compete with Honda City once it is successfully launched. (source)
