India among top 10 Chevrolet global sales markets in 2012

Sales of Chevrolet during the past year have been extremely noteworthy. Sales touch a high of 9.2 million during the 12 month period, up 2.9% as compared to sales during the previous year. This has been a global sales record for General Motors Company with enhanced demand seen across the US. Total sales for Chevrolet in the US stood at 1.85 million, a good 60% more than sales in other markets.

Sales in Brazil stood at 643,000 while sales across China, the emerging luxury market accounted for 627,000 units. Sales in South Korea stood at 125,000 while sales across India totaled 92,000. This is Chevrolet’s ninth consecutive year of record global sales and is primarily due to new products. The current year is also expected to reap rich returns for the company, with over 13 new or redesigned products being launched which include Corvette Stingray, Silverado and Impala.

Smaller vehicles such as Cruze, Sonic, Aveo, Spark and Milabu continue to dominate while crossovers and trucks like Spin, Trax, Orlando and Colorado are also receiving their fair share of attention in global markets. Best seller of the Chevrolet lineup was its Cruze compact sedan, which saw global sales of over 755,000 in 2012. Chevrolet is the world’s largest car brand. It was founded in 1911 in Detroit and has since expanded its business operations to over 140 countries across the globe.
