Indian auto industry April 2014 sales decline
Indian auto industry produced 1,861,849 in April 2014. This includes passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers. When compared with 1,687,243 vehicles produced in April 2013, growth was reported at 10.35%. This is attributed to growth in two wheelers production.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales declined by 9.5% in April 2014 over April 2013. Passenger cars and vans sales dropped by 10.15% and 27.04% respectively. Utility Vehicles sales growth as reported at .27% for the month.
Overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered 24% de-growth in April 2014 as over April 2013. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered 17.09% sales decline and Light Commercial Vehicles sales dropped by 27.37%.
Three Wheelers sales were down by 2.17% in April 2014 over April 2013. Passenger Carriers and Goods Carriers sales declined by 2.62% and .46% respectively in April 2014 over April 2013. Two Wheelers sales growth was reported at 11.67% in April 2014 over April 2013. Scooters, Motorcycles and Mopeds grew by 26.08%, 8.06% and 0.23% respectively in April 2014 over April 2013.
Overall automobile exports grew by 12.98% in April 2014. Passenger Vehicles and Three Wheelers registered de-growth of .95% and 22.83% respectively while Commercial vehicles and Two wheelers registered growth at 12.66% and 24.66% in April 2014 over April 2013.
