Indian auto industry reports sales decline in October 2014

Indian auto industry production stood at 1,991,669 vehicles (passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers) in October 2014 down from 2,088,003 in October 2013 equating to 4.61% decline.

Indian auto industry passenger vehicle sales grew by 2.3% in April-October 2014 over Apr-Oct ’14. In passenger vehicles segment, passenger Cars and utility vehicles (UVs) grew by 3.03% and 7.02% respectively. Van sales were down by 15.62% in April-October 2014 over the same period in 2013.

Automobile sales decline in October 2014

Overall commercial vehicles reported 9.14% decline in April-October 2014 as compared to same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) grew by 1.94%, while Light Commercial Vehicles sales decline stood at 14.24%.

Three Wheeler sales grew by 15.75% in April-October 2014 over the same period last year. Passenger Carriers and Goods Carriers grew by 17.48% and 7.87% respectively.

Two Wheelers sales growth stood at 12.86% in April-October 2014 over April-October 2013. Scooters, Motorcycles and Mopeds sales growth stood at 28.45%, 7.97%, and 9.58%. Indian auto industry exports for automobile exports April-October 2014 grew by 19.80%. Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers and Two Wheelers grew by 13.93%, 15.33% and 26.80%. Passenger vehicles reported marginal decline of .06% through April-October 2014.
