Unlike the Indian car industry, which has registered decline in growth rate for the month of July 2011, Indian 2 wheeler industry or rather Indian bike industry (as most of the sales include motorcycles these days) has registered an impressive growth rate for the month of July 2011.

World’s largest 2 wheeler manufacturer, Hero Honda Motors (now Hero MotoCorp) registered unit sales of 491,306 in July 2011, an increase of 15% compared to July 2011 figures. In July 2010, Hero MotoCorp sold 427,686 units.

India’s second largest 2 wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj Auto registered a 14% increase in sales figures. In July 2010, Bajaj Auto sold 318,415 units while in July 2011, they sold 363,712 units. 3rd largest 2 wheeler manufacturer in India, TVS Motors registered growth in sales figures by 14% as they managed to sell 1,89,962 units in July 2011. Mahindra 2 Wheelers registers 15% growth.

Suzuki Motorcycles sold 27,088 units in July 2011 compared to 18,533 units sold in July 2010, an increase of 46%. Yamaha India sold 38,197 units in July 2011 compared to 29,728 units sold in the same period last year. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is soon getting closer to TVS Motors and might just replace them from the 3rd spot by the end of this year. July 2011 HMSI sold 1,52,382 units compared to 1,38,445 units sold same period last year (10% growth rate).
