Indo Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015 concludes at India Gate

Indo Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015 covered a distance of 3,060 kms and was received by Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs at India Gate in the Capital on Sunday. Specially conducted to enhance bilateral relations between India and Nepal and to spread the message of Road Safety, the rally was organised by Kalinga Motor Sports Club, Bhubaneswar and Nepal Automobile Sports Association (NASA) besides Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), International Road Federation (IRF) and Odisha Government. Indo Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015 drew the attention of a host of first timers, motoring enthusiasts, a retired General from the Indian Army, senior bureaucrats, politician and Motor Rally veterans.

Indo Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015 travelled through Konark, Dhauli, Bhubaneswar, Baripada, Rairangpur, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Bakhtiyarpur, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Forbesganj, Jogbani, Biratnagar, Dharan, Bardibas, Dhulikhel, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini and Dhangadhi. Led by Praveen Chandra Bhanjadeo, MLA and former Sports and Youth Services minister, the motorists travelled to the Jagannath Dham in Puri and Pashupatinath in Kathmandu which are noted for their pilgrimage importance. The rally also traversed across the Buddhist trail in India and Nepal, right from Dhauli Shanti Stupa, where King Ashoka had laid down his sword for peace after the historic battle of Kalinga while it went through Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Lumbini in Nepal which is believed to be the birth place of Lord Buddha.

On conclusion of Indo Nepal Friendship Motor Rally 2015, Sushma Swaraj congratulated the organizers for the successful spread of the message of road safety while she underlined the fact that it was only Indian name cars that participated in the rally.

Union Minister of State MoRTH Pon Radhakrishnan, MoRTH secretary Vijay Chibber, IRF chairman K K Kapila and Praveen Chandra Bhanideo, and President Kalinga Motor Sport were present. Vintage cars were on display at the concluding event at India gate.
