Isuzu selects Andhra Pradesh for their INR 1,000 crores India plant
Japanese automobile manufacturing majors, Isuzu Motors have announced their intention to enter the Indian auto sector. For this, the company will be investing INR 1,000 crores in a plant at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh which will have an annual capacity to produce 50,000 units vehicles.
Till the time production facilities are not completed, Isuzu will be using Hindustan Motors plant in Chennai along with General Motors’ plant for their manufacturing process. Isuzu Motors will initially produce the MU7 Choiz SUV which will be fitted with a 3.0 liter diesel engine along with a V Cross Pickup Truck which will possess a 2.5 liter diesel engine. This shows that the Japanese automakers will be heavily investing and concentrating on the Utility Vehicle segment in the country. Isuzu Motors are well versed with manufacture of commercial vehicles, heavy duty trucks and diesel engines.
Isuzu is globally known for manufacturing pick-up trucks, heavy duty trucks, engines for passenger vehicles and diesel engines for various industries. They are present in India. They provided diesel engines to Hindustan Motors, which were fitted in the Ambassador and Contessa. Isuzu Motors will be also entering the passenger car segment with MU-7 SUV and D-Max Pickup.
