Jaguar is getting set to bring out a new range of compact and lightweight rear wheel driven cars, which will go a long way to boost sales. Currently the British carmaker has annual sales below the 60,000 mark and needs to enhance this in order to compete with the biggies like Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi, each having sales figures of over the 1 million units annually.
This new model range will be based on their Lightweight Architecture aluminum platform. Though the images here show that the prototype is carrying ‘XF’ fittings, but the shorter doors and adjusted roofline are proof that these are the shots of Jaguar’s long awaited rival to BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes Benz C Class. As of now, this prototype has no name, and is codenamed X760. It might carry the name XS, and will be ready for markets by early 2015.
