Jaguar will produce only 250 units of new F-Type Project 7; hand-built by JLR’s special operations team. Design cues of production model bear similarity to concept version that was unveiled in summer of 2013, especially the D-Type inspired fairing. F-Type Project 7 pays homage to seven Le Mans victories by Jaguar.
5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine powers Project 7 to the tune of 575 PS topmost power and 680 Nm peak torque. This 1,585 kg car is completely made of aluminium body parts to achieve 0 – 100 kmph sprint record of 3.9 seconds, all the way up to 300 kmph electronically limited top speed. Road legal new F-Type will come with removable roof and 196 litre stowage space.
Eight-speed Quickshift transmission and 2nd generation Electronic Active Differential (EAD) sends power to rear wheels. Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) brakes that is optionally available with F-Type R Coupe are made standard on Project 7. Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVbB) is also available as standard feature, which along with EAD enables better handling. Driving experience is said to be enhanced by unique suspension setup and bespoke Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) that act as aerodynamic aids.
Other notable features of Jaguar F-Type Project 7 includes shorter windshield, new design front bumper and D-Type inspired fairing behind driver’s head. Downforce promoting aerodynamic tweaks include CFRP front splitter, side skirting, rear diffuser and adjustable rear end spoiler. Production model will be a two-seater with rollover hoops for both driver and shotgun integrated into Project 7’s design.
