Management is optimistic that this agreement will find favor with the union members after which the new salary hike will come into effect in two stages. The first hike is of 4.5% which will be effective from 1st November 2012 while the second increase of 3% will be effective from November 2013. These new scales are as per the British labor laws wherein wages have to be increased every three years as is the balloting process.
There are five Jaguar Land Rover plants in Castle Bromwich, Solihull, Gaydon, Whitley in West Midlands, and Halewood in Merseyside. Jaguar Land Rover manufacturers British brands under Jaguar and Land Rover labels and has 21,000 employees who are affiliated to the Unite Union who will benefit from this new salary hike.
