As opposed to previous spy shots of Jaguar XE sedan which was not nipped and tucked, this teaser image kicked off by Jaguar on Twitter shows the car’s final figure and physique made of advanced lightweight aluminium framework; looks like the cat is finally out of the bag!
Jaguar XE will sit with a grin in the highly buzzing compact premium sedan segment, rubbing thighs with Audi A4, BMW 3 series and Mercedes-Benz C-class. The all new XE saloon is slated to be more voguish compared to the test mule images and head shot that Jaguar flashed up for all of Geneva Auto Show press audience earlier this year.
The new XE saloon will be powered by 2.0 litre four cylinder engine from Jaguar’s new ‘Ingenium’ range of engines. The architecture of XE will be based on new rear and all wheel drive configurations. Top speed will be around 186 mph (approx. 300 kmph). These engines may eventually replace the four cylinder engines derived from Ford’s, seated in Land Rover’s Freelander and Evoque models.
According to Jaguar, Ingenium is a “new family of premium, lightweight, low-friction, low-emission four-cylinder petrol and diesel units”. Ingenium also “utilises the most flexible engine architecture ever produced by Jaguar Land Rover, with an advanced design configured to suit in-line and transverse installations for rear and all-wheel drive configurations”.
All new Jaguar XE sedan is expected to start selling second quarter of 2015, at a price of around £29,000 (Rs. 28.5 lakhs approx.).
