British luxury car brand, Jaguar has already stated that in order to penetrate newer markets, increase their market share and compete with the three German luxury car manufacturers, Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz, they are willing to compromise on performance. Jaguar announced yesterday that they will be launching a new entry level XF with a 2.2L diesel engine that will generate maximum power of 163 bhp.

The new Jaguar XF diesel engine has the same cubic capacity as the current entry level XF variant, only difference is in the output power and torque. The current entry level Jaguar XF diesel 2.2L generates 190 bhp while the new one has been down-tuned to offer 163 bhp.

On the performance front, new XF will be able to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 9.8 seconds, compared to 8.5 seconds of the current XF. Topspeed too has been affected as the new XF with 163 bhp engine has a max speed of 210 kmph compared to the 225 kmph topspeed of 190 bhp XF.

On the efficiency front, the new XF gives an improved mileage of 18.2 kmpl but somehow the emission of CO2 remains same as that of current XF at 149 grams per km. Expect Jaguar to launch the new entry level XF in England by next March with a price tag of approximately $46,000. Features of the new Jaguar XF include, leather seats, electronic climate climate control, touchscreen entertainment and navigation system. Indian car buyers can expect a launch of the new XF soon after its England launch.
