John Abraham cannot use Hamara Bajaj as the title for his next film
Mumbai High Court has given its verdict in favor of Bajaj Auto and against John Abraham who is forbidden from using the Bajaj’s famous tag line ‘Hamara Bajaj’, as the title of his next movie. The first motion ad which featured the Hamara Bajaj tagline was back in 1989 on Doordarshan. Bajaj later released a modernised version in 2001. We have attached both versions inside the post.
Hamara Bajaj is one of the most popularl television advertisements in India. Even today’s generation associates Bajaj with the ad. Seen first in advertisements for the Bajaj Chetak scooter, which was discontinued in 2009, however the tagline is and always has been associated with Bajaj Auto. It is regularly featured in their advertising campaigns both in print and on television.
As per the ruling Bajaj’s tagline Hamara Bajaj will continue to be linked with Bajaj Auto and cannot be used as John Abraham’s proposed title for his next production venture even though Abraham has stated that the words Hamara Bajaj was only a working title of the film.
