June 2013 SsangYong Motors’ global sales drive high on the back of Korando
SsangYong Motors, Korean SUV auto manufacturers, owned by Mahindra & Mahindra, have recorded increased global sales in the month of June 2013. Driven by launch of Korando Turismo, the company has witnessed an increase in sales for the third consecutive month in June, even while the year itself has begun on a positive note.
Total sales during the month reached 12,858 units, out of which 5,608 units were sold in Korea while 7,250 units were exported. Taking cumulative sales from January 2013 into account, the company recorded a 22.6% increase in sales as compared to the same period in the previous year. These strong sales were backed by the Korando which appealed to a younger section of buyers.
Exports increased 20.7% during June YoY while cumulative sales increased 15.4% over the same period in 2012, primarily due to increased exports to Russia and Central and Southern America. Russia proved to be a major export market for the company with a total of 18,858 units exported in during January to June 2013 resulting in a 46.9% overall exports thus making Russia the largest export market for SsangYong Motors.

Ssangyong Motorâ€™s global sales exceed 12,000 vehicles

Ssangyong sold a total of 12,858 vehicles in June; 5,608 vehicles in Korea and 7,250 exports, increasing 28.1% from a year earlier.
Recorded an increase in Korea sales for the sixth straight month, increasing by 39.1% year-on-year.
Ssangyong will sustain this uptrend in the second half by conducting various promotion activities, entering new overseas markets and strengthening its product line-up.
July 16, 2013, Mumbai: Ssangyong Motor, part of the USD 16.2 billion Mahindra Group, announced that it has sold a total of 12,858 vehicles in June 2013 â€“ 5,608 vehicles in Korea and 7,250 in exports, including CKD kits. Its sales uptrend continued for the fourth straight month since February this year.
This strong performance was driven by the launch of the Korando Turismo, with the companyâ€™s monthly sales exceeding 12,000 units for three months in a row, increasing by 28.1% year-on-year. Its cumulative sales from January 2013 also rose by 22.6% compared to the same period last year.
This growth is backed by an upswing in Korea sales. The Korando brand family including the Korando Turismo has led this sales momentum.

Ssangyongâ€™s exports in June also grew by 20.7% year-on-year and its cumulative sales rose by 15.4% compared to the same period last year, thanks to increased shipments to Russia and Central & Southern American markets such as Chile.
In particular, the company exported a total of 18,858 units to Russia in the first half of 2013, accounting for 46.9% of overall exports, which means the Russian market is the largest export market for Ssangyong.
