Mr Chung Sung-eun, VC and CEO of Kia Motors has resigned from his job last week after the company had to recall over 100,000 units due to a wiring trouble. Sung-eun was one of the two Kia Motors CEO, he is succeeded by President Lee Hyong-keun. Kia Motors, in a statement announced that the promotion of Lee Hyong-keun is aimed to improve Kia Motors vehicle's global demand and quality.
Kia Motors spokesperson Mr Michael Choo said, "His resignation comes in the light of the recent global recall issued by Kia Motors." Reports suggest Kia Motors Chairman Mr Chung Mong-koo is the reason Chung Sung-eun resigned. Mong-koo reportedly asked Sung-eun to take the responsibility of the recall and resign from his job.
Kia Motors is the world's fifth largest auto manufacturer and an affiliate of Hyundai Motors, South Korea's largest auto manufacturer. Kia has manufacturing units in US, China and Slovakia apart from the one in South Korea.
