Kia Motors Manufacturing, Georgia auto assembly operations was awarded the Large Manufacturer of the Year award in the city of Georgia and a special lunch was held in their honor in Atlanta. Mr Byung Mo Ahn, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kia Motors America accepted this prestigious award.

He said that the company had adopted the “Kia Way” where everyone within the company works on trust, mutual respect and open communication so as to strive for improvement. The plant is situated at Georgia Alabama border and offers employment to over 3,000 people while providing business opportunities to large number of parts suppliers that have sprung up around the plant.

With further investment of $100 million Kia managed to reach their 500,000 milestone in February this year. Kia Motors manufacturing unit in Georgia was commissioned in October 2006 with an investment of $1 billion. The plant was opened in February 2010 and receiving this prestigious award is another feather in its cap.

Mr Ahn added, “We have developed the ‘Kia Way’ to define the workplace culture and establish a ‘one system/one team’ approach at our facility. The Kia Way is built on trust, mutual respect and open communication among all team members to ensure continuous improvement.”
