Monaco drama, Kimi saved from Vettel in the pit lane
One of the most dangerous places to be during an F1 race, is the pit lane. Every year, pit lane sees accidents, some of the times it results in accidents and injury, while other times there are close calls.
During one such incident yesterday in Monaco, World Champion, and Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen had a close call. He was walking in the pit lane, completely unaware of the fact that he was in the path of Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, who was about to start his run.
A video footage captured the entire incident, which can be seen below. The video shows how a Red Bull mechanic – Big Nige saved Kimi Raikkonen from getting run-over by Sebastian Vettel.
Kimi is surely surprised when he is pushed aside in that manner. He probably didn’t notice at first what happened, and looks at the Red Bull mechanic with a strange look. We can guess what he would have said to the mechanic – “Leave me alone! I know what I’m doing!”
Seeing the video (and considering Vettel’s frustration this season) makes us wonder, if the mechanic had not been there, would Vettel have applied brakes if Kimi had not moved from his path?
