KTM 1290 Super Duke R launched in China: RC 390 Athletic specs revealed
KTM 1290 Super Duke R is launched in China, at price of HK$ 176,800, which is approximately Rs. 13.7 lakhs. The high performance naked bike was launched in United Kingdom in 2013, at price of ¬£13,999 (Rs. 14.3 lakhs approx.), and last month KTM started marketing the same in Indonesia with a price tag of 475 million Rupiah (Rs. 23.79 lakhs approx.).
Immense power of 180 bhp and massive peak torque of 144 Nm comes from 1301 cc four stroke 75 degree V-twin liquid cooled engine, derived from KTM RC8 super bike. It is mated to a 6 speed transmission with slipper clutch providing smooth downshifts. More on 1290 KTM Super Duke R here.
Lets shift to KTM RC 390 special release that is reconfigured in every way to make it race ready. Slight alteration in body structure, changes in fairing, engine upturned by 4 hp (from 44 hp to 48 hp), Akrapovic titanium exhaust, WP inverted fork, racing type shift pedal and body decals are seen in KTM RC 390 special version. Athletic version of KTM RC 390 has lost about 9kg; weighing only 130kg.
Rest of equipment / specification remains same as regular KTM RC 390 sports bike. It has water cooled single cylinder 4 valve four stroke DOHC engine displacing 375 cc. Compression ratio is 12.6:1; 89mm x 60mm Bore x Stroke. Engine is mated to wet multi-disc, six-speed chain drive. Fuel is supplied by Bosch electronic fuel injection system. Front suspension features 43mm WP inverted fork tube with 125mm travel and rear suspension gets WP Monocular hydraulic shock absorbers with 150mm travel. Tire on front in 110/70 -17 unit and rear gets 150/60 -17 spec.
