KTM 390 Duke set for India launch in May 2013 with Rs 2 lakh price tag?
Austrian KTM, is set to launch the new 390 Duke in India with their partner Bajaj Auto. The launch is expected to happen in the last week of May 2013 while the price of the 390 Duke is expected to start from Rs 2 lakhs.
Duke 390 was launched in Austria last week, and the images here are from the media test-ride. Motorcycle enthusiasts in India are waiting for the all new Duke 390, which is scheduled for a launch by May 2013.
The powerful Duke 390 is the elder cousin of Duke 200, which is currently available in India at a price of Rs 1.33 lakhs, ex-showroom. Powered by a new 39 kg engine with 375 cc that generates 45 PS power and 35 Nm torque, Duke 390 comes with an awesome power to weight ratio of 340 PS/ton (Duke 200′s at 200 PS/ton). This is because, the weight of Duke 390 is just 139 kgs, just 14 kgs more than the Duke 200.
Duke 390 is also a fun to ride bike. As you can see in the video below, the bike can easily maintain grip on wet and cold roads of Austria. Duke 390 accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in less than 6 seconds while the bike continues to sprint upto 130 kmph in 10 seconds. It has an estimated top speed of 160 kmph.
Now these are very tempting figures, and all this is expected to come at an even tempting (expected) price tag of Rs 2 lakhs. This competitive pricing is due to dependence on localization of spares. Duke 390 is being built at the Bajaj Auto plant at Chakan near Pune. It is from here the motorcycle will be exported to various markets around the globe.
