KTM Super Duke 1290 will deliver 200 bhp from 1190 cc?
At the launch event of KTM Duke 390 in Pune a few days back, in their presentation, there was one slide which featured the KTM Super Duke 1290. The only information revealed that time, was that it will be launched later this year, but not for India. Moving on, the launch of this beast seems to be on schedule, as images from a private dealer screening has surfaced on the internet.
According to Derestricted, KTM recently organized a private preview of Super Duke 1290 for their dealers in the US. Apart from the regular version, there was also a special Kiska designed Patriot edition. Kiska, an automotive design company has been closely associated with KTM ever since 1992. These bikes will soon be on display at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy from 7th to 10th November 2013.
Based on the same engine as seen in the KTM RC8 R, the Super Duke 1290 will sport an 1190 cc engine offering 173 bhp power and 120 Nm torque. However, Beforeitsnews reveal that this engine will be tweaked to offer power of 200 bhp when fitted to the Super Duke 1290, while the vehicle itself will be devoid of any unnecessary accessories or tweaks so as to aid in better power-to-weight ratio. Especially for US buyers, Super Duke 1290 will sport special livery in blue and white while the American national flag will be seen in the fuel tank along with an eagle emblem on the fuel filler cap.
