Named after the Mayan god of wind, storm and fire, Huracan was also a raging bull that fought in Alicante in 1879. In keeping with its name, the Lamborghini Huracan is fast and furious and powered by a re-tuned version of Gallardo’s 5.2 liter V10 engine producing 610 PS peak power at 8,250 rpm and 560 Nm torque mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission.
Built on a new lightweight architecture with carbon fibre and aluminium seen throughout its construction, total weight stands at 1,422 kgs. This powerful engine and light weight allows the new Lamborghini Gallardo to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and to hit a speed of 200 kmph in 9.9 seconds. The Lamborghini Huracan possesses top speed of 325 kmph.
Rivalling Porsche 911, Audi R8 V10 and Ferrari 458 in India, the new Lamborghini Huracan is produced at the company’s plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. It will be imported into India as CBU, where it will be sold through company dealerships in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Price in India is expected to be in the Rs 3.5 crore range.
Lamborghini Huracan, a replacement to Gallardo is expected to make its mark in India where despite steep import taxes and crippling exchange rate scenario, demand for super cars are steadily increasing. Lamborghini sold 22 units in 2013 as compared to just 17 units in 2012 and expect to see added demand for this new model which sources state has seen global pre launch orders at over 1000 units.
