Lamborghini working on Urus SUV production as it will be good for the brand
Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, has confirmed that their Urus SUV will definitely enter production. Seen as a concept at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, Urus SUV will be the first Lamborghini SUV to be produced, since assembly of LM002 ended in 1993.
Speaking to Japan Times, Stephan Winkelmann, CEO, Lamborghini, said, “We’re working on it and it will come, which will be good for the brand. We’re going low profile now. I can’t tell you much on details now, but when we get close to the launch, we will have more.” Winkelmann was in India last week to open a new dealership in Delhi.
Urus is seen as an ideal vehicle which should witness increased demand in the Chinese luxury market. Launch date is yet not disclosed as the company is awaiting final approvals from the VW Group, post which, more details and expected time of arrival in the markets will be announced. However, estimates put arrival dates at 2016-17. Urus seen at the Beijing Show stood 4.99 m (196.5 inches) long, 1.99 m (78.4 inches) wide and 1.66m (65.4 inches) tall but it is still not yet confirmed as to what engines will make its way into the SUV.
