Land Rover 9-Speed ZF AT debuts in Geneva next week
Land Rover will be displaying its innovative new 9-speed automatic transmission at the upcoming 2013 Geneva International Auto Show, scheduled for start from 5th March 2013.
The new automatic transmission will be seen in the new Land Rover SUVs of the future. A striking feature of this new ZF unit is that it is compact in size even though it possesses three more gears. The unit weighs 7.5 kgs less than the earlier 6 speed transmission while it measures just .23 inches more.
Gear ratios have been increased, as a result, fuel efficiency has been enhanced and carbon emissions have declined. Apart from this, Land Rover says, you will also notice a marked improvement in acceleration, gear-shift quality, control and performance. The new ZF 9HP transmission also comes equipped with special software that picks up driver’s techniques in a matter of minutes. The 9HP is robust and is perfectly suited for Land Rover’s all terrain rugged vehicles showcasing better sophistication and competence.
Speaking on the same, Land Rover says, the new transmission is specially developed for “off-road use, towing and more extreme on-road conditions like gradients and altitude, giving the driver a heightened sense of control. It will recognize the driver’s driving style within seconds, sharpening up during brisk driving then slipping seamlessly into a more economical regime just as quickly when taking a more relaxed approach. We are extremely excited about the 9HP which has been tailored exactly to dovetail with the unique attributes of our vehicles. It will add another layer of performance, refinement and efficiency, further enhancing Land Rover’s world class abilities.”
