Land Rover Defender SUV production to end in 2015: Photos from last 70 years journey
A James Bond favorite in Skyfall, driven by Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider and a favored choice of vehicle for the Royal Family and Winston Churchill, Land Rover Defender story will soon come to an end. British luxury car maker, Jaguar Land Rover has announced that the last Defender will be made at Solihull in December 2015, bringing to an end one of the most legendary vehicles on the road, after a period of 70 years.
Land Rover will have to stop production of the Defender after it failed to meet the stringent European laws on fuel emission, but the company is known to be working on a replacement which will adhere to the EU emission laws, reveals BBC. Details of this replacement have not yet been revealed but rumors are rife that the new arrival should make its presence felt as soon as at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
The iconic SUV has been in production for nearly 7 decades and will go out in style. Its history goes back to 1948 when it was first viewed by King George VI.
