MayPac effect: Las Vegas airport had to be closed as it gets flooded with private jets

As the celebrities and rich headed to Las Vegas for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight on Saturday night, the airport was teaming with private jets to the extent that the airport had no more room for airplanes. A tweet on the official account for McCarran International Airport stated that it was closed to private planes for the time being while private air traffic was asked to land either at Henderson Executive Airport or the North Las Vegas airport so as to make room for airplanes.

Pictures shared on Twitter by LA TV reporter Liz Habib showed the private jets parked in close confines and in fact so tightly parked that wing to wing and nose to nose parking was evident. The visitors to the boxing match of the century between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao will have a long wait in their bid to get out of the airport.

Mayweather has earned $179,808,511 (Rs 1,145 crores), while rival Manny has earned $119,872,340 (Rs 763 crores) from this one single fight.
