Here we compile information on top 5 upcoming big car launches under Rs. 10 lakhs this year that would be worth waiting for. List includes upgrades, facelifts and all-new cars from popular manufacturers like Honda, Datsun, Fiat, Mahindra and Renault, in the form of Mobilio MPV, Go+ MPV, Avventura Crossover, Scorpio facelift and Duster 4×4 SUV respectively.
Datsun launched on-Do sedan at starting price of 329,000 roubles (Rs. 5,63,985 approx.). Renault-Nissan joint venture Avtovaz locally produces cars for Renault, Nissan and now Datsun as well. On-Do, upcoming mi-Do and Datsun SUV were intended to appeal to Russian families as low cost foreign cars.
Within the framework of the partnership agreement between the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Datsun is taking baby steps globally. To mark production start, Datsun Russia earlier today rolled out the first Datsun on-DO from its AvtoVAZ Russia plant in the presence of company officials and media.
Datsun on-Do sedan for Russia styled in Japan and engineered specifically for Russia was launched earlier this week. Datsun on-Do production at AvtoVAZ Tolyatti plant adds to the production line-up with Lada Granta also coming out of here. Datsun’s Russian sedan reaches dealerships in the second half of July at a price of 329 000 rubles (loosely equates to Rs 5.75 lakhs).
Nissan India launched Datsun Go earlier this year, aimed at grabbing a pie of Maruti’s Alto and Hyundai’s Eon, together eating about 25-30k units monthly. But, Go sales have been disappointing, averaging about 2-2.5k, with last month’s being lowest at 1,097 units.
Datsun Go entry level hatchback was expected to do big numbers, somehow didn’t put up that big of a show, yet. Now, Nissan along with Renault, will bring a 2+ lakh car to India and place it beneath Go with Datsun badge.
For June 2014, Nissan India reported sales of 4,362 vehicles over 2,949 units sold in June 2013 equating to 48% sales growth. While Terrano continues to fuel sales, new Sunny sedan launch is scheduled for 3rd July, 2014.
Datsun on-Do sedan which was unveiled in April is the first of three products to be launched in Russia. Production of on-Do will kick off on 14 July 2014, followed by sales next month. Second car, mi-Do hatchback will be unveiled there around the time of on-Do launch, in August.
