India’s top car manufacturers list for FY 2013/14 unsurprisingly sees Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India at top two respectively, and dramatic change in rest 3 positions which is also not a surprise. The list includes Mahindra, Tata and Honda, by overall sales volume in fiscal 2013-14. The next two are Toyota and Ford.
Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition celebrates 5 decades of Mustang heritage with only 1,964 units to go on sale this fall. “When Mustang was approved for development more than 50 years ago, I don’t think anyone imagined it would spawn such a dedicated base of fans around the world and still be in production today,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “We are thrilled to be here in New York – where Mustang was first shown to the public at the 1964 World’s Fair – to re-create that historic event for today’s Mustang enthusiasts.”
Toyota and Ford, both contend that they have got the world’s most popular car. The competition escalates with Ford revealing that they moved 1,097,618 units of Focus in 2013 while Toyota claims that 1,098,524 units of their Corolla were sold thus putting them in the lead by 906 units.
Ford has announced that it will be bringing its production version of the new Escort sedan to the Beijing Auto Show scheduled for 21st to 29th April 2014. The new Ford Escort is one of 15 launches planned for China by 2015. Ford Ka for Brazil will go on sale in July with the new engine under its hood. This all-new 1.0-litre ECOnetic flex-fuel engine is being produced from the new engine plant in Camaçari, Brazil into which Ford has invested an amount of $400 million Brazilian Real (Rs 1,090 crores).
As Ford gears up for sale of its compact SUV EcoSport in Europe from June 2014, starting with Germany, followed by the UK, Austria and Switzerland, it is now revealed that the EcoSport for Europe will feature modified parts and a stronger overall structure. Though it will be manufactured in India, at Ford’s plant in Chennai, various modifications have been implied in the European version of EcoSport, with regard to safety so as to meet the stringent safety norm prevalent in Europe.
