Noting increased demand in the compact SUV segment, Hyundai will be launching their new compact SUV in India next year. Expected to be launched as a 2014 model, new Hyundai compact SUV is slated to give the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha based SUV and Renault Duster competition.
After revealing their all new small car, Grand i10, Hyundai India has announced a Celebration Edition of their present Santro hatchback. Hyundai is India’s second largest car maker, and they aim to become No 1 in the small car segment by 2020. But the current leader, Maruti Suzuki India, too has plans to maintain their lead. They will counter every move of Hyundai India, and to start with, a new car rivaling Grand i10 will be launched in 2014.
Hyundai’s new i10 for Europe has been officially revealed. Spied testing around different terrains in Europe, the new 2014 i10 will premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. This is a slightly different variant than the one which will be launched in India as Grand i10 on 3rd September.

Maruti Suzuki India is working towards launch of a new diesel powered car, codenamed YL7. This new car will be powered by a 800cc engine, which might make them the first car manufacturer in the country to offer a 800cc diesel engine powered car, unless Tata speed up their plans and introduce the diesel Nano before that. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of Hyundai Eon, i10, Santro, Chevrolet Beat, etc.
Hyundai Motorsport has been making progress with their 2014 spec i20 WRC. Their debut gravel test was conducted in July with the new WRC. With the test programme on target, Hyundai Motorsport continues to make strong progress.

Hyundai aims to become India’s largest car manufacturer in compact car segment by 2020, ending Maruti Suzuki’s 30+ years of dominance in the segment. How will they achieve that? Well, they will launch four new compact cars over the next 18 months. This includes Grand i10, Eon 1.0L, new i20 and Grand i10 based under 4 meter compact sedan.
