Fiat Chrysler Automobiles are executing plans to manufacture a Jeep SUV in India, as a part of Rs. 1,500 – Rs. 2,500 crore investment here. It will be priced at Rs. 20 – Rs. 25 lakhs in India, when it is launched in next two years.
Fiat Group Automobiles India, a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has announced launch of the Jeep SUV brand in India in 2015. Earlier expected to launch in 2013, plans were deferred to 2014, following which the company has confirmed launch in 2015 stating that official announcements will be made shortly.
Jeep is gearing up to diversify and triple its production with six models in six countries in coming years. Plans of Jeep’s expansion were revealed at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ headquarters in Auburn Hills earlier this week, when Sergio Marchionne, FCAâ€™s Chief Executive presented the group’s five-year plan.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is now the parent company for all of Fiat’s subsidiaries, have unveiled their new sign board at Auburn Hills Head Quarters and announced their five year plan yesterday. Fiat – Chrysler merger was completed in January 21, 2014 and extensive growth plan among subsidiaries (Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari and Ram) have been on works since then. Yesterday’s all-day event brought the five year plan to light, shows potential to get in the same league asÂ Toyota Motor Corporation, Volkswagen Group and General Motors Company.
A total of four new design concepts are up on display at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show from Jeep. These include the new Jeep Cherokee Sageland and Urbane, a premium luxury version of Jeep Wrangler called Jeep Wrangler Sundance and the Zi You Xia which is based on 2015 Jeep Renegade.
Jeep has unveiled four new design concepts for the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, each of which draw inspiration from Jeep production models with accents inspired by the Chinese culture and style. The one we are going to discuss here, is the Jeep Zi You Xia Design Concept aboard the new Renegade compact luxury SUV. Zi You Xia means Rebel in Mandarin and draws inspiration from the colors of the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing.
Fiat had stated that their Jeep brand will be introduced in India by the last quarter of 2013. But, that time is long gone and the Jeep is yet to make its official entry into India. Speaking to Fiat India at the launch of new Linea in Mumbai, they confirmed that the Jeep brand will not be launched anytime soon. The plan to launch Jeep in India has been deferred indefinitely.
