Honda Mobilio was launched today in India, a new entrant to the MPV segment. Though it is labelled primarily as Maruti Ertiga rival, Mobilio will go beyond as well, to assail Toyota Innova. Much like other machines in Honda’s stable, Mobilio’s entry will influence buyers to shift segment, thanks to a lot of factors that will be mentioned down the page. It is likely that¬†rest of MPVs surviving in under Rs. 10 lakh bracket will take a hit.
With lack of any product in the segment between Etios and Corolla, Japanese automakers Toyota, along with their Indian counterparts Kirloskar Motors will be introducing the Vios sedan in India.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors registered 12% growth in the month of June, thanks to their new cars – Corolla, Etios (sedan, hatchback and cross), and Innova. Now, the company looks forward to the upcoming festive season. Toyota is confident of car sales seeing a 6-7% increase by the end of this year.
The next generation Innova MPV was spotted for the first time, testing in India. Gearing up for launch in 2015-16, the new Innova will be a major facelift and will compete with new-age MPVs like Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy.
Volkswagen AG is on the 2014 Fortune Global 500 list which was revealed earlier this week. The eight largest company in the world and No. 1 automotive company by way of revenue as per Fortune Global 500, Volkswagen surpassed Toyota in the latest list. For 2013, VW was ranked 9th, and Toyota was ranked 8th. For 2014, its vice versa.
