New Yamaha FZ and FZ-S (refreshed FZ sports series with power from an air-cooled 150cc engine) made its debut this morning with sales in the Indian market beginning in July 2014.
Yamaha Motor India began a new chapter in the two wheeler industry today when the launched the new FZ-S and FZ motorcycles in presence of John Abraham. Both featuring Yamaha’s next gen Blue Core Technology with Fuel Injection, the new Yamaha FZ FI is priced at Rs 76,250 while the new Yamaha FZ-S FI is priced at Rs 78,250. Boon Siew Honda Malaysia ushers in three new bikes expecting significant growth in sales. Include CBR 250R entry level sports bike, CBR 650F middle weight sports model and CB650F naked bike. Price of CBR 250R is announced; that of 650cc duo to be revealed during launch by August 2014.
Bajaj Auto, the countryâ€™s second largest motorcycle maker, is also the largest manufacturer in the Performance Sement. Their Pulsar and KTM brand motorcycle sales are on the rise. Bajaj Pulsar sales have crossed the 1.55 lakh mark while KTM sales have touched 35,000 in FY14.
Competition heats up in the 150cc commuter segment, as Japanese automakers, Yamaha Motors gear up for launch of Yamaha FZ-S V2.0 today. The new Yamaha FZ-S V2.0 comes in ready to give some serious competition in the segment. Spied on test in Chennai earlier this month, the new FZ-S has arrived at dealerships. Assen Moto3 saw Mahindra’s racing duo begin their Dutch TT quest from rows 5 and 6 having qualified in 13th (Miguel Oliveira) and 18th (Arthur Sissis). In his last outing at Italy, Miguel began 19th on the grid and almost got on the podium, finishing in 4th place.
Even though Bajaj Auto has lost its No 1 position in the domestic market, their exports are gaining grounds exponentially. In the fiscal year ending March 2014, the company exported 13,23,173 two wheelers, or 66.7% of the total two wheeler’s exported from India.
Yamaha R25 finally saw some competition on a racing circuit, in the form of Kawasaki Ninja 250 FI. Indonesian motorcycle racer Nico Julian Chandra, who frequents Ninja 250 on track, was given the opportunity to ride R25 and Ninja 250 FI on Sentul International Circuit, Indonesia for a head on comparison.
