Chennai based two wheeler firm, TVS Motor Company, currently in fourth place, after Hero, Honda and Bajaj, is keen to strengthen its position in both motorcycle and scooter categories. A slew of new launches are lined up for the year so as to increase market share from 12% to 14%, reveals the company’s annual report.
Where the two wheeler market in India is concerned, Hero MoroCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India continue to be in the lead. However, while Bajaj Auto occupied a third spot, its position has now been usurped by TVS Motors, as far as domestic sales is concerned.
Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL), today reported 10% growth in Q2 2014 over over the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Hero MotoCorp sold 17,15,129 two-wheelers in Q1 FY 2014-15 over 15,59,282 units sold in Q1 FY 2013-14.
Yamaha Motor India launched FZ FI version 2.0 and FZ-S FI V2.0 yesterday with a list of feature upgrades, most importantly, surprising change in engine specification. First FZ model was launched back in 2008, same engine and mechanicals have been doing duty so long until now, but the bike received a lot of new colours and liveries over the years; all three- FZ, FZ-S and Fazer 150.
As the new TVS Victor gets ready for launch around festive season in the country, the model was spotted on test recently. 2014 TVS Victor will be positioned below TVS Star City and will compete with others in its segment to include Hero Splendor and Honda Dream Neo.
HLX 125 motorcycle from TVS Motors has made its official entry into Tanzanian markets where it is seen in dual colors of Flame Red and Polyester Blue. The new TVS Motors’ entrant into Tanzania is specially equipped to suit the riding conditions in the country.
TVS Max 125 is launched in Indonesia, at the Jakarta Fair. The new 125cc bike is predominantly a fusion between the company’s Indian commuters Star City+ and Phoenix 125. New Max 125 has debuted Indonesian market in two variants.
TVS Draken 250cc street fighter concept was unveiled in 2014 Auto Expo in February. Solely developed by TVS, the mean looking street bike poses to be a real threat in the momentum gathering 250cc segment in ASEAN countries. To further kindle the competition, TVS Indonesia has showcased a Draken prototype in one of their showrooms, possibly to gather public interest in that rivalry nourishing product.
