Earlier this year, BMW had confirmed that they are working on a bigger X SUV, the biggest till date. To be called X7, this new BMW SUV is expected to be launched in the markets by 2017/18, and it will be manufactured at their plant in the US, from where it will be exported around the globe.
After giving a report on India’s top 5 car manufacturers last week, we now present India’s bottom 5 car manufacturers. This list includes Nissan, Volkswagen, Fiat, Skoda and Hindustan Motors – Mitsubishi. Datsun too features in this list, but as it was just launched, we will not include Datsun in this list. The bottom 5 car makers in India have combined market share of less than 5 percent.
Yamaha has officially confirmed production of two all-electric bikes. These two Yamaha’s will roll out in 2016. Introduced to the world at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, one will be a street bike named PES1 and other a dirt bike named PED1. PES1 stands for ‘Passion. Electric. Street’ and PED1 stands for ‘Passion. Electric. Dirt’.
A total of four new design concepts are up on display at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show from Jeep. These include the new Jeep Cherokee Sageland and Urbane, a premium luxury version of Jeep Wrangler called Jeep Wrangler Sundance and the Zi You Xia which is based on 2015 Jeep Renegade.
Tata Motors seems to be applying final touches to their new cars’ Zest sedan and Bolt hatchback, which are scheduled to enter production in a few weeks. Recently, a Bolt hatchback was caught while it was making a test run around Tata’s facility in Pune.
Showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, Honda has finally launched the 125cc variant of their flagship automatic scooter, Activa. Launch price of new Honda Activa 125 for all Indian cities have been revealed. In Pune, the ex-showroom price of Honda Activa 125 starts at Rs 54,559 for the Standard variant and Rs 60,277 for the Deluxe (Disc Brake & Alloy wheels) variant.
Just like in India, Nissan’s sub-brand, Datsun is going to launch three new cars in Russia. But these are very different cars. For India it is the Go hatchback, Go sedan and Go+ MPV, for Russia it is the on-DO sedan, mi-DO hatchback and (expected) an MPV/crossover based on the same platform.
Nissan Micra based Venucia R30 supermini made debut at 2014 Beijing Motor Show just recently. This is the fourth production model of Venucia, on the same platform as Nissan March (manufactured by Dongfeng-Nissan JV in China) or Nissan Micra (as known in Europe and India).
Volkswagen showcased Golf R 400 Concept, a 395 hp hatchback monster at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. Developed by Volkswagen’s R division, the car is set to enter production. This was revealed by none other than Heinz-Jakob Neusser, Volkswagen’s R&D Chief.
