After the Union budget announcement, most Indian automakers have had to resort to price hikes but Mahindra Renault dealerships are resorting to upto Rs 50,000 discounts for the Logan sedan. Discounts are available for petrol and diesel variants, and most believe it's an attempt at stock liquidation since the future of this JV hangs in thin air.
The discounts will last until the end of this month, with the diesel variety discount being pegged at around Rs. 20,000. The Logan has sold less than 5000 units in the past year, and current sales figures aren't positive.
This week, speculations could be put to rest as Renault-Nissan alliance Chief Carlos Ghosn is expected to announce the future of this JV when visiting Chennai for the Nissan plant inauguration on Wednesday.
