Mahindra auto sector sales decline by 13% for Dec 2013

Selling a total of 39,611 units in December 2013, India’s largest utility car maker has reported a decline in sales by 13%, as compared to Dec 2012, when they sold 45,297 units.

Under the passenger vehicles segment, which also includes their UVs and Verito, Mahindra registered a 28% decline, selling 16,436 units last month. Mahindra’s Year to Date sales for Fiscal Year 2014, stand at 370,689 units, as against 414,142 units sold in the same period last year, declining by 10%

Mahindra auto sector sales decline by 13 percent for Dec 2013Speaking on the monthly performance, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “During the first nine months of the current fiscal, the auto Industry has seen a negative growth due to sustained deceleration in economic activity and consequent weakness in consumer and business sentiments. While the immediate turnaround in the auto Industry is not expected without certain policy corrections and support, the worst seems to be over. At Mahindra we continue to focus on customer centricity and do hope that the new year will bring in the much needed cheer for the Auto Sector”.
