Mahindra G101 launch on Sep 2? Spied without camouflage
After showcasing five new two wheelers to their dealers in Pune recently, Mahindra is now getting ready for yet another launch – the G101 scooter. Expected to be launched on 2nd September, the new G101 is a 110 cc automatic scooter.
Already spotted on test in a camouflaged state, the image above is the first ever image of Mahindra G101 scooter in an uncamouflaged state. Powered by Mahindra’s new 110cc engine, this new scooter will be Mahindra’s product to rival mass commuter segment scooters like Honda Activa, Activa i, Yamaha Ray, Yamaha Alpha, Hero Maestro, Hero Pleasure, TVS Jupiter, and Suzuki Let’s.
This segment registers most sales in the Indian scooter segment. And considering that the demand continues to rise exponentially, Mahindra is entering the segment at the right time. Apart from Mahindra, TVS is also going to launch Scooty Zest 110 cc scooter in this segment on 20th August.
From earlier spy shots of G101 and the image above, it is seen that the new Mahindra scooter will wear a simple look, probably to keep ots price competitive. It will feature a wider seat for more comfort, sturdy handle bar with V shaped headlamps, arrow styled turn indicators which nicely merge into the facade, body coloured rear view mirrors, chrome exhaust, pillion grab and Mahindra logo on the front and side.
As far as price is concerned, expect Mahindra to price the G101 about Rs 3-5k lesser than rival Honda Activa. More information will be revealed once the bike is launched. Mahindra has already sent out media ride and launch invites. Until then, have a look at the other new Mahindra bikes.
Update – Mahindra has postponed the launch/event scheduled for 2nd Sep to a later date, which is yet undisclosed.
