Accessorized Mahindra Imperio showcased at 2016 Auto Expo

An accessorized example of the Mahindra Imperio double-cab pickup was showcased at the recently concluded 2016 Auto Expo. The exhibit was aimed at showcasing the LCV’s potential to be a private vehicle.

The Imperio is essentially a heavily refurbished version of the Genio which is currently catering only to the export markets. Based on the Ingenio platform which also underpins the Xylo and Quanto, the Imperio pickup truck targets the likes of Isuzu D-Max and Tata Xenon.

The accessorized pickup truck gets a grey paint job, a chrome bull bar, fog lamps, spot lights, additional cladding for the wheel arches, black finished alloy wheels with red accents, black lower body decals with orange borders, chrome foot board and chrome rollover protection bars in the load bay.

Interior gets plusher seats, attractive dashboard trims, piano black centre console with a multimedia infotainment system, chrome treated internal door handles and many more. The 5-seater promises SUV-like comfort levels.

The Imperio pickup truck is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine which produces 75 bhp and 220 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels. The Impeerio can manage a top speed of 125 kmph and has a claimed mileage of 13.55 kmpl. The payload capacity stands at 1,240 kg.

Market for a feature rich pickup truck that can also be used as a private vehicle is almost non-existent in India, so we expect this accessorized Imperio to remain merely as a concept vehicle.
