Mahindra XUV500 sales cross 1,200 units in South Africa
Sales of Mahindra and SsangYong products in South Africa have seen rise in demand for 2012. Sales of passenger and LCVs increased by 118 percent. For 2012, Mahindra sold 1,203 units of XUV500 SUV in S Africa.
The highest sales were recorded by Scorpio Pikup, 1,423 units. Following high level of acceptance for both Mahindra and SsangYong products in South African markets, Mahindra South Africa has announced further expansion plans. The company has increased their dealership base in the country and also launched a number of new models.
Mahindra dealers now total 59, while new products have been added along with special editions which have helped in drawing more attention to the two brands. Expansion and improvement plans also entailed overall support and training of dealers. The company also concentrated on assured and timely availability of improved parts and all round customer satisfaction both where sales and after sales service was concerned. Mahindra SA now offers Bolero Single Cab, Genio Pikup Double Cab, Genio Pikup Double Cab, Scorpio Pikup Double Cab, Scorpio Pikup Single Cab, Scorpio SUV, XUV500, and Xylo MPV. Under SsangYong, Actyon Sports, Korando and Rexton W are on offer in S Africa.
A new Training and Development Center was also launched in South Africa in 2012 showing Mahindra’s determination to become a major player in South African auto sectors. Further expansion to other countries and export to Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland and Namibia were also initiated strengthening the company’s presence further.
