This recall comes close to the recent Maruti Suzuki recall issued for 1,492 cars of models Ertiga, Swift DZire and A Star over steering column problems. Mahindra & Mahindra stated that recall process was underway with customers being directly contacted by company and dealers and all replacement of faulty parts will be done free of charge. The recall only affects the Scorpio EX variant and none of the other Scorpios produced during the period of October/November 2013.

The latest recall is in tune with SIAM voluntary recall policy which came into effect in July 2012. Since then automobile manufacturers in India have recalled a total of 3 lakh units over safety related issues. Mahindra will individually contact each of the affected vehicle owners and replace the faulty part free of cost.
