With Brazil emerging as a major auto hub, Indian auto manufacturers Mahindra and Mahindra have thought it best to launch their new pick-up version of Scorpio in the country. This new M&M Scorpio Pik-Up will be offered with diesel technology and 4WD capacities, prices of which start at 89,900 Brazilian Reals or Rs.23.80 lakhs in India where the same model is called Scorpio Getaway.
Mahindra Pik-up or Getaway, whatever you may please to to call, is powered by a 2.6 liter turbo diesel engine offering 110 hp at 4000 rpm with 269 Nm torque at 2800 rpm. The vehicle can be converted to a 4×4 or a 4×2 with the flip of a switch strategically located on its dashboard. Mahindra Pik-up sees enhanced internal space and cargo area. It measures 5.098 meters in length, 1.750 meters in width and is 1.942 meters long with a 3.040 meter wheelbase and ground clearance of 210 mm.
All the facilities of offering passengers a comfortable drive within its confines are seen in the new Mahindra Pik-up. These include remote control locks, double din audio system with USB and SD card, power steering, air conditioning and electric door mirrors. Considering its demand in Brazilian markets M&M will also be considering setting up of a local assembly plant in the country specially catering to the production of these models.
