Mr Rajesh Jejurikar, Mahindra's Chief Executive for Automotive Design announced the launch of new passenger variants from Mahindra & Mahindra within the next 12 months. Currently the first vehicle is in its development phase and Mr Jejurikar was not ready to reveal any further details.

He said, "Mahindra & Mahindra will be launching a passenger vehicle variant under the Maxximo platform over the next 12 months. We have made investments of Rs 300 crore in our Chakan plant. This will be utilised for ramping up our facility. That will be sufficient for us. But we may require making marginal investments as and when required for introducing the new variant of the passenger vehicle."

The Chakan facility is currently manufacturing around 2000 units every month. Mahindra is looking forward to up the output with some investments soon. Mahindra plans to increase the output in phases and their first goal is to increase the plant's output to 3000 units monthly which they are expecting to be achieved by next month.
