For 2010-11, Nissan, the Japanese giant has ordered Maruti Suzuki India to manufacture 35,000 A-Star models annually for three years. The demand could exceed 35,000 units a year as Nissan tries to capture the small car market with Pixo, A-Star's European avatar.
This fiscal year itself Nissan has increased the order by 19,000 units to 54,000 units. The details were released today by Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) chairman Mr R C Bhargava.
He also added that the agreement might be assessed in 2013 as Volkswagen have bought a 20% stake in MSI. He also expects to export 1.5 lakh units to the European market.
