Maruti Celerio diesel spied on test (Photos and Video)
Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been a success ever since it was launched. However, not resting on their laurels, the company is going ahead with actively testing the Celerio diesel variant which has been spied and videotaped on test.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio Diesel, the top end variant ZDI has been seen undergoing some tests for quite some time. Expected to be launched by first half of 2015, Celerio diesel will compete with the likes of Beat diesel in the segment.
Maruti Celerio diesel spotted on test sports an indigenously developed diesel engine. It will be the first Maruti car to receive this engine, which will also make its way to other Maruti products and a commercial vehicle. Noted with considerable less noise than when it was spied testing earlier, it is possible that Maruti Suzuki could have ensured better insulation or modified hardware to take care of the diesel clutter.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel is a vital model for the company as it makes its foray into the first self made diesel engine in the passenger car category. This engine is a compact 800cc two cylinder unit with turbocharger mated to a five speed manual gearbox. Celerio diesel is expected to claim an average of 30 kmpl under ARAI testing and this will make it India’s most fuel efficient car as on date. Price of Celerio diesel might range in the INR 4.75-5.75 lakhs category.
