Maruti’s new Celerio, a successor to A Star will receive a 1.0 liter K10 petrol engine offering 67 bhp power at 6000 rpm and 9.1 kgm torque at 3500 rpm while being mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. You will also have the option of of EZ Drive as transmission, which is India’s first automated manual transmission. Fuel efficiency is claimed at 23.1 kmpl as per ARAI norms.
Maruti Celerio is expected to be priced aggressively so as to attract customers in an otherwise price sensitive market. Bookings have been declared open at a down payment of INR 10,000 with deliveries promised by end of February 2014.
The new Celerio to be offered in six petrol variants – four with manual transmission and two with automatic gear shift will be available in seven colors. Loaded with features such as Bluetooth connectivity, alloy wheels audio streaming, steering wheel with audio buttons and electrically adjustable side mirrors, the new Celerio will also receive tilt adjustable steering wheel, driver airbags and rear windscreen wash/wipe system.
Prices of the Celerio are to be announced at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo beginning 5th February, but considering the Celerio is slated to compete with cars such as Hyundai Grand i10, Honda Brio and Renault Pulse, prices could start in the sub INR 4 lakh category. (images via)
