For Chinese markets, the new Suzuki Alivio will be powered by a 1.6 liter, four cylinder, petrol engine mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. In India, the Ciaz sedan will receive both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine could be a 1.4 liter four cylinder engine as seen on board the Ertiga while diesel engine could be a 1.3 liter Fiat MultiJet engine. The petrol engine will be mated to both manual and CVT gearbox options while the diesel engine will only receive manual option.
Spy shots reveal that Suzuki Alivio/Maruti Ciaz will measure 4,545 mm in length, 1,475mm in height, 1,730mm in width and will sit on a wheelbase measuring 2,650mm making it bigger than the Honda City, best selling car in the segment. Suspension is tuned to offer quality rides both in the front and at the rear while interior spy shots reveal dual toned beige and black interiors.
Boasting of features such as projector headlights, multifunction steering wheel, engine start/stop button, automatic AC controls and rear AC vents the Ciaz in India will sit on 16” multi spoke alloy wheels. Competition will come from the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Fiat Linea while prices are expected in the range of INR 7.5 to 10.5 lakhs.
