New Maruti Ciaz service campaign announced to replace speedometer – Not a recall

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced a Service Campaign for the Ciaz diesel Zeta and Alpha variants. This is not a recall, mentioned the company in its media release. Maruti said that the replacement of faulty units will be undertaken free of cost.

The campaign spans units manufactured between 1st August and 21st September 2018 which could cover around 880 units of the Ciaz diesel which may require new speedometers.

The Service Campaign got underway from October 29 and the company is in the process of contacting owners of these affected cars in a phased manner. Those customers who have not yet been notified by the company will need to check and submit the chassis number MA3 along with a 14 digit alpha numeric number found on the vehicle registration certificate or on the vehicle ID plate. The inspection and change of speedometer will be conducted by NEXA service centers.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has become the highest selling compact sedan in India in the first half of FY2018-19. The company registered bookings of 10,000 units of the Ciaz facelift in the first month of launch while over 24,000 units were sold during the period April to September 2018.

New Maruti Ciaz facelift commands a 28.8 % market share in its segment and competes with Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. It took Maruti years to get a hold on this segment, and now thanks to Ciaz, they finally have beaten the likes of Honda City and Hyundai Verna.

Maruti Ciaz gets a bold new look and comes in packed with comfort, technology and safety features while interior space is also at a premium. Its biggest update is a new 1.5 liter K-Series petrol engine which offers 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque which is a good 13% more power and 6% more torque than that offered on the older 1.4 liter engine. The new engine also receives Smart Hybrid technology for better efficiency and lower carbon emissions.
