Maruti and Hyundai post increase in sales for August 2015

Month of August 2015 saw two of the largest car manufacturers in India register positive growth in sales, thereby giving the auto industry a much needed boost. Maruti Suzuki sold 1,17,864 cars while Hyundai sold 54,608 cars, thereby registering a growth of 6.4% and 13.5% respectively.

For Hyundai, August 2015 has been a special month. The South Korean brand has registered their highest ever monthly sales ever since they set shop here in India. This has been possible due to the launch of their new cars like Elite i20, i20 Active and Creta.

Hyundai did not reveal exact sales figures of each of their cars, but they did say that domestic sales had increased by 20% as compared to August 2014. This increase in demand from domestic market has resulted in Hyundai registering a decline in exports for August 2015.

Launched today – Maruti Ciaz SHVS. The new variant gets a governmental subsidy of INR 13,000 under FAME scheme.

For Maruti Suzuki, their small cars Alto, WagonR along with their two new premium offerings, Ciaz and S-Cross helped the company to, maintain lead in the auto industry.

The segment of cars which posted maximum sales for MSIL was the compact hatchback segment, which features Swift, DZire, Ritz and Celerio. Though this segment managed to register highest sales (of 41,461 units), it was less than what it managed in August 2014 (46,759).
