Maruti preparing new 1.0l engine with 90 hp power
India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki is working on a new small engine, which will be first seen on their new premium hatchback, currently codenamed YRA. This new engine will be turbocharged, and have a capacity of 1.0l which will generate best-in-class 90 hp power.
This new engine is from the new family of petrol turbocharged engines, which Maruti Suzuki is currently developing. Called, Direct Injection Turbo Charged (DiCT), this new engine family will primarily include 1.0l, 1.2l and 1.5l engines, which will power the future Maruti Suzuki cars in India.
Once launched in the YRA, this new 1.0l three pot engine might also be made available in their other cars – Alto K10, Celerio, Swift, Wagon R. Considering the success Maruti Suzuki has tasted with the introduction of AMT, it is safe to believe that their new-age cars will also be seen with AMT options. Mileage will be in the range of 20 kmpl for the 1.0l turbocharged engine.
