Maruti registers record Ertiga MPV bookings on launch day – exports to Indonesia begin this May
Maruti Suzuki India Limited is all set to send out their first batch of the new Ertiga MPV to Indonesia by end of May 2012….
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will be exporting the Ertiga to Indonesia as a Completely Knocked Down Unit. Ertiga is a seven seater wagon offered in three petrol and three diesel trims. The MPV is laden with a host of safety features like dual airbags and ABS besides a number of comfort features such as twin ACs and tilt steering.
In India, production of diesel engine powered Ertiga will rise to keep up with increased demand. Customers have shown an increasing trend towards diesel engine vehicles and company sources confirm that 80% of their sales of Ertiga would be for the diesel variant. Production has been increased from 12000 units to 20000 units per month while waiting periods too have been reduced.
The company will not be bringing out a CNG version of the Ertiga due to products like Wagon R and Ritz CNG which have failed to attract the attention of buyers due to lack of infrastructure. Ertiga received overwhelming response when it was launched and the company received around 400 bookings only from the state of Maharashtra on the first day of launch itself. The vehicle offers a comfortable ride to urban families at a reasonable price. MSIL have announced their decision to take the Ertiga to other South East Asian markets as well.
