Maruti S Cross in new white colour and without projector headlamps on ZXi+ trim – Spied

Officially displayed at 2015 IIFA Awards Night in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month, Maruti S Cross has been spied once again. The new spy shots have caught the car in a white shade, which like every other Maruti car is expected to be the best selling shade for S Cross as well.

Spied on the production line, the new white coloured S Cross is a top of the line petrol variant with ZXi+ badge on the rear.

Set to come in with multiple variants and added on-board equipment, the S Cross will be devoid of projector headlamps, even in the top of the line ZXi+ variant, confirms the new spy shots. This implies that the LED DRL with projector headlamp setup will be available only as an option. This has been done so as to keep the price of the car aggressive.

Maruti Suzuki S Cross will also be seen with new alloy wheel designs, wing mirrors with turn indicators and daytime running lights besides skid plates on front and rear bumpers. Interiors will boast of dual zone climate control along with some segment first updates. These include touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system, smart entry system, cruise control buttons, steering mounted controls, dual front airbags, rear AC vents and ABS with EBD.

Though it is not clear as to what will be the engine options on offer, the one engine option which is confirmed is Fiat sourced 1.6 liter diesel engine. This is capable of generating 118 bhp power and 32 kgm peak torque while being mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. Another option that could be on offer is the 1.3L Fiat MultiJet and the 1.4L petrol; which are seen on the Ciaz.

To launch in India sometime in early July, company dealerships across the country have opened bookings for Maruti S Cross at a down payment of INR 30,000 to 50,000. With starting price expected to be around INR 8 lakhs, Maruti S Cross will find competition in the form of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai Creta.

Does this mean that the LED and projector headlamps are optional?
